Coffee With: Carmen Tapier Escudiar, Associate Director, Noizze Media
Q: Maybe just tell me about the company—your elevator pitch?
Carmen: Well, sure! We are a young and dynamic public relations firm, founded in April 2011. We have extensive experience in technology, which we’ve built over the years. Thanks to the confidence and recommendations of our clients, we now cover a variety of sectors, including cybersecurity, health, finance, and even sports, for example.
Our vision is really simple: it’s to tell a story to journalists. So, whenever we find a compelling story, we get it out there for our clients. We search for the right journalist to pitch it to.
And, if we find the story isn’t particularly engaging, we try to approach it from different angles. As we like to say, it’s like taking a photo of Notre-Dame Cathedral. Even though Notre-Dame is a beautiful cathedral, there are other interesting elements about it—like the stained-glass windows or the gargoyles, for example. The same goes for our clients: there’s not just one story to tell, but many different perspectives we can explore to make the story more interesting for various journalists.
Q: And tell me about your name. Where did it come from? I really like the name of your company.
Carmen: Oh, that’s a nice story! When we started, we wanted a brand name that reflected the modern media environment. Today, the media is so focused on “news,” and we thought about that as an inspiration. But, we also wanted something a bit more original. So, we looked at the idea of “noise” not in the traditional sense of the word. We thought about how insects, like bees, make a buzzing noise. That’s when we came up with the name Noise, but with a twist: instead of using an “S,” we used a double “Z”—so, Noizze. We liked that it gave an impression of a bee, which also aligns with the idea of activity and energy.
Q: I love it! So, tell me about your clients. You mentioned B2B tech, cybersecurity, and sports. Are your clients all the same size? Do they come from all over the world, or mainly from Spain and Portugal?
Carmen: Many of our clients come from friends, often through recommendations, but we also work with multinationals based in Spain and other countries. Our client base includes small and medium-sized businesses, as well as startups, and we’ve helped many of these startups grow. We have a strong passion for technology and work with tech companies in areas like cloud computing, cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, and technical communications. We also work with clients from a variety of sectors, including arts, education, finance, food, health, sports, and even social foundations.
Q: How about your team? Is it just four of you, or do you have a larger team? How does it work?
Carmen: Well, after more than 20 years of experience in journalism, communications, PR, and VC, we decided it was time to start our own story—helping companies and brands expand their media presence and reach their target audience. In terms of our team, we are a small core group of four people, but we’ve developed a network of partners who help us meet all of our clients’ needs, including PR, marketing, events, advertising, and social media.
Each of these partners is an expert in their field, and we believe that while it’s possible to work across different areas, it’s always essential to do so based on trust, respect, flexibility, and confidence—rather than focusing solely on the numbers in a contract.
We like to be an integral part of our clients’ teams, rather than just an external agency looking in.
This collaborative approach is something we prioritise, and our partners share this same working philosophy.
